J. Crew comes out of the box for the spring-summer collection 2015 and of its typical basic items blends reminiscences Latin American seafaring and look in shades of blue.
For spring-summer 2015, J. Crew decided to innovate by offering the New York catwalks a fresh, casual-chic, no longer firmly tied to the image of the style American preppy, for years hallmark of the brand, but being open to contamination worlds away, from the hot lands of South America to ocean crossings on yachts immersed in the great blue sea.
The collection of atmospheres
These then recreated the atmosphere in the new SS 2015 collection, as stated by the same Tom Mora, chief designer for the women’s clothing brand: “we have been inspired by the beauty of the indigenous cultures of the ‘Latin America. It caught their unusual approach to the lines, the lines, the intricate fabrics, painted with the technique of Ikat, and the ingenious combination of colors that only the artisans of Peru and Mexico were able to skillfully exploit. L ‘energy that releases the entire collection is the result instead of my recent trip to Ibiza, with its relaxing tropical breezes to lap paradisiacal beaches. For the next season I wanted to give the collection a new feeling of lightness, comfort and naturalness but with that extra touch of glam, to feel sexy even with a soft outfits, casual and not set. I liked the idea of making the clothes part of everyday life of the woman / man who wears them, to live them and appreciate the elements of everyday life, and not only on the occasion of a valuable event.”
The sequence of colors and prints
The first big wave of color is evident in ‘wide blue color change: the hue navy merges and contrasts with two other lighter shades, the royal blue and the’ blue denim and recreates the nautical theme that reverberates throughout the collection. Hence the first outfits acquire a taste casual-chic especially if the blue hues are combined Breton striped patterns in marine style and over-layers of jackets and shirts brought so resigned and careless. For large bermuda blue striped organza sporty cut, they match oversize blue shirts that fall in a disorderly manner at the front and which are superimposed compounds tailored blazers in linen or jackets boyfit with large front pockets. Another perfect combo is given by chino 3/4 navy that is combined with the denim shirt and to which are added a couple of very high sandals and highly original bag in metallic fabric, embellishing everything with a touch of glamor in the most.
“I resigned and very casual style that can be given by bermuda or oversize shirt is totally revolutionized by the hyper-feminine accessories, is the way in which the various items are pushed together which makes the difference, which creates a new woman, the woman J . Crew for the new season 2015, “concludes Tom Mora. And so, even the most openly androgynous look, given by Tailored trousers and jackets, can rise to the standard of femininity through cleavage and sandals with super chic strap, to longuette clingy, sheath skirts and mini dresses straight cut. The iridescence of bags and sandals herald the arrival of the summer nuances of all time, the yellow, present in the lighter tones of skirts and shorts and then buy luster with many sequins places of sweaters and longuette fringes. The last tranche of color instead results in a return to monochrome and neutral colors, classic, like the shades cream and beige, but they work only if combined with the blue, the bottle green or khaki. The blocks of color and full tones remain the undisputed protagonists of the great final of the collection, although the striped patterns and mix of geometries persist to the end in a few selected leaders.
The accessories that make the difference
“A simple head is not the dress,” this seems to be the message Tom Mora, “are the accessories, the way in which the various elements of the outfit assemble and blend with each other that make the difference.” That’s why a ensemble seemingly casual and sporty, as it can be a short-shorts or a striped shirt, can become the image of sensuality and the glam-chic when paired to the shoe, bag or the right necklace. As for footwear, J. Crew confirms once again the collaboration with one of the most innovative footwear designer Sophia Webster, with excellent results: the prints are vibrant and vivid colors, the heel court shoes and sandals are ultra-feminine and subtle, with straps and ankle twists that help to give the woman J.Crew a slender silhouette, as opposed to shorts and casual pants. The metal details are present in greater numbers on the bags, so that reflect the radiance and glamor of a typical summer day on the beaches of South America. Also the necklaces resume seafaring theme, with cords and golden elements. The revolutionary accessory?Even the typical fisherman’s cap or bucket hat, can become very chic when paired with the right outfit.
